Make a splash with Heartfelt Creations.

It's Heartfelt Wednesday and time for a new project share using the Under the Sea collection from Heartfelt Creations. I am really enjoying working with the bright colours and fun images from this range.

I

For this project, I have used a combinations of fussy cutting, and die cutting. I have used both pre-printed images and hand colouring.  If you look closely, you can see that the images are lightly coated in fine glitter, and I have used dots of glossy accents to create bubbles from the fish mouths.

The port hole is hinged, and can be opened to the right, for a bit of fun.

Check out the blog this week for a fun shaker card idea via video from Emma Lou, as well as a look at the new collection Botanic Orchid, which is literally ALL over my desk as we speak.

Something fishy with Heartfelt Creations.

This month we are all having lots of fun exploring the underwater world with the new Under the Sea collection from Heartfelt Creations

A while ago, my friend Sue Smyth made a really great snow globe card using acetate. I decided to springboard off her idea to make a fish bowl card to showcase these really pretty fish images from the new collection.

It hasn't really shown up well in the photos, but the fish and all the elements have a light touch of fine glitter over them.

The design team have so many great and varied projects on the blog this week. You can check them all out here.

Birthday wishes with Ruby Rock-It |Alicia Barry|

This month we are celebrating birthdays at Ruby Rock-It. A little while ago, I attended a birthday celebration where my friend was gives a wishes jar. Each person wrote a special wish for our friend and put it in the jar as a keepsake for her. I love the idea.

It will soon be my daughter's birthday and thought I would make my own version of a message in a bottle style wish jar.

I started by priming a glass bottle with gesso. Next I swiped some texture paste over the bottle and heat set. After that I added lots of crackle paint and left to dry.

I used watered down silks in a variety of colours, allowing the paint to sink into the cracks. I blotted the wet paint to blend, and create a watercolour effect.  I used texture paste mixed with metallic paint through a stencil to add even more texture. I added some microbeads into the wet media.

Once everything was dry, I used Happy Days papers, die cuts wood veneers and droplets to create the embellishments.

Under the Sea new collection release.

Today is the best kind of Heartfelt Creations Wednesday, as it is also new release day. This month's release is called Under the Sea, and features beautifully coloured fish, and sea shells.

Here are a few words from the designers:

Take a walk along the edge of the deep blue sea, feel the warm sand between your toes and breathe in the salty air. Balmy breezes tousle your hair and toy with the exotic hibiscus flower behind your ear as you stoop to snatch a lustrous seashell that has been swept onto the beach with the incoming tide. Cares and worries melt away because life really is better at the seaside. The cool, crystal clear water lapping at the shoreline beckons you and you cannot resist the sudden urge to dive right in. Before you know it you have been submerged into a magical underwater world where you find yourself settling on a jagged reef surrounded with burnished coral, glassy seashells and mystical sea creatures more beautiful than your imagination could ever conjure. A peek behind the coral and waltzing seaweed finds you nose to nose with a school of fish gliding every so gently with their long, graceful flowing tails and glistening scales decorated with an abundance of shimmering and alluring colors. Delicate sea horses and magnificent jelly fish dart and flit among the dancing aquatic plant life as to entertain you with a glorious underwater show being performed just for you. Welcome to “Under the Sea”, the newest collection by Heartfelt Creations. This water themed assembling of magnificent papers, stamps and dies will have you creating ravishing underwater scenes perfect for documenting your seaside vacations, ocean themed altered art pieces or salt water card creations. The tranquil color palette of calming blues, greens and teals, paired with golden yellows, subtle shades of pinks, purples, corals and reds are sure to soothe your soul. Creating projects with a tropical flair that will “make a splash” has been made simple with decorative papers boasting mesmerizing patterns of sea shells, florals, delicate swirls and alluring hibiscus blossoms. The intricate, detailed stamp illustrations of underwater sea creatures, glistening seashells, and exotic hibiscus flowers are sublime for shaping and creating dimensional elements adding a realistic touch to any underwater themed paper craft design. We invite you to take the plunge and come along with us on an underwater adventure as we explore Under the Sea!

Here's my first project with this collection. The hibiscus flowers that come with this collection are so pretty.

Be sure to check on the blog. There is so much colour going on this week. The design team have all done a wonderful job with this collection. I look forward to bringing you my next project.

Have a sweet, Heartfelt Creations day.

Today on the Heartfelt Creations blog, we have our brand new design team members sharing their very first project. I am very pleased to have been invited back for another year. Thank you to everyone who comes to visit my blog, and for your lovely comments. Thank you especially to those who voted to have me hang around for another year.

A big congratulations to the new designers, who I am sure will do wonderful work, and a farewell to Archana, Oksana, Emily and especially Robin, whose work I truly adore, and who I got to spend some time with in LA. I will miss you.

There are some really beautiful collections coming, and I can't wait to share them with you.

Today I am sharing my latest project, which is a sweet little tag. I have featured the lemonade stamp image from the Berry Cafe cling stamp set, and of course teamed it with the berry blossoms.

A few favourites for me on the blog this week. Look out for Rajni Chawla. I've had my eye on her for a while now, and am so glad she made the team. Her handmade flowers are incredible. I really like Tracy McLennon's layout. It's so sweet. Anne Harada has used a very cool technique on her strawberries, and of course Joann Jamieson-Larkin never fails to amaze me with her off the page projects.

You can also get another little look at the next collection coming out really soon.
